PIDP 3260 - Professional Practice
The main reason I have enrolled in this course is so that I get the opportunity to learn about professional practice within the teaching environment. There are many challenging situations placed upon instructors such as dealing with plagiarism from students, students requiring extra attention due to their learning needs, missed or late assignments, students sharing their life stories (which can be very delicate), differing teaching philosophies among one's peers, and the ongoing situations with one's administration (oops....that would be me), and I want to be as well prepared with tools and resources to be able to meet these issues with a sense of confidence.
In addition, I want to learn all the new and exciting things that are going on in the world of research and learning. How is technology helping or hindering us? What are the new social media platforms out there? How is learning changing? And how do I become a part of this great educational journey? I took this course as the last course before my capstone project, as I wanted to accumulate all the knowledge I learned and experienced among all the other great courses within this curriculum: Foundations of Learning, Delivery of Instruction, Evaluation of Learning, Curriculum Development, Instructional Strategies, Media Enhanced Learning, to help me incorporate this learning into this course with the goal of becoming a well-rounded instructor ready to share my knowledge with others.
